This article reports statistics on the number of new registrations of imported vehicles of foreign manufacturers in fiscal year 2023.
EV sales increased 59.6% year-on-year to 22,890 units, reaching a record high for the fifth consecutive year. The share of EVs in total imported vehicles rose to 9.2
By price range, sales of passenger cars in the high price range increased, with those priced at 10 million yen or more up 20.4% and those priced between 4 million yen and 10 million yen up 10.2%. By brand, Mercedes-Benz maintained the top position for the ninth consecutive year.
SUV sales were strong, with five brands setting new records, including Land Rover, BYD and Volvo.
